Is this Mukhriz for real? His lying skills need to be brushed up if he is to reach the dizzying cheat-own-self heights of his father.

(Dad just told Singapore press that no one ever protested against him and demanded he resign as PM - even though the 1987-88 Ku Li-Musa and 1998-2003 Reformasi fights were so well documented)

Mukhriz tried to deflect the Press secretary's statement saying that Mahathir wants Mukhriz to be Prime Minister, which Mukhriz denied he has no such ambition.

In reply to this denial, the PM's Press Sec asked a simple question:

"Why contest for UMNO VP if you don't harbour any ambition to be Prime Minister?"

Instead of answering the question directly, Mukhriz gave 3 reasons - all of which tak boleh pakai.

1st reason. I am only an ADUN and not a MP. The PM (whoever that person is) won't elect me as Senator for me to take over his place as PM.

- This is an absolutely idiotic reply. Firstly, no one said you must become PM straight-away. The allegation was that Mahathir wanted you to be PM eventually and pave the way for you using people like Muhyiddin.

- Mukhriz was MP for Jerlun before in 2008 and no one said that you cannot contest back as a MP in 2018 should Najib be forced to surrender the President post to Muhyiddin or someone else. So no need to talk about senator nonsense.

2nd reason: Being a Vice-President does not guarantee that you will become President and then PM.

Dude, you for real? Yes, being VP does not guarantee you that you will become President/PM but NOT being VP basically means your task to become President is much tougher. Being VP is A positive step towards president. Not Being VP is a negative step.

Yes another rubbish reason.

3rd reason: You don't have to be a Yang Berhormat (YB) to contest Vice President post.

Among the three idiotic answers, this is the most idiotic answer and does not even dignify a reply.

It's like saying you don't have to be any smart to be Mahathir's son.

What are you talking about? DUH!

Just be honest and say that yes, I want to be PM because my father wants for me to be PM.

And that is why my father was very angry when I lost in 2013 and blamed Najib and UMNO. He also threw a tantrum after I lost and quit Petronas just a month later and he then plotted and planned to remove Najib after that.

Some honesty would be great instead of 3 absolutely stupid reasons.

Reading back, what he did then was really over the top.

Getting his own party declared illegal, phantom voters, used and slander the Agong, change the constitution, threw more than a hundred people in jail, paralysed the courts systems.

All because one man wanted to remain president.

Today there was a statement that slammed Tun Mahathir's blog post a few days back and correctly pointing out that it was seditious.

Annuar: Is Mahathir courting a sedition rap? 

Tan Sri Annuar Musa has raised the possibility that former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad was deliberately courting a sedition charge by making remarks about the appointment of the Attorney-General, Apandi Ali. 

In a statement today, Annuar said it was clear that Dr Mahathir’s blog article on Wednesday had contained “words seditious in nature.”  

Annuar said it could be that Dr Mahathir “being a shrewd political strategist” was trying to mobilise support for his cause to oust Prime Minister Najib Razak by inciting the authorities to act against him and hence garner public sympathy.  

“Having been a Prime Minister for a very long time, Tun Dr Mahathir must have known that those words are seditious in nature, what more when the Federal Government under his stewardship used to very frequently charge people for the same offence,” Annuar said.  

“But it could also be that Tun Dr Mahathir thinks that him being a former Prime Minister and a former Umno President may make him immune from the power of law, hence his boldness in going against the law in his attempt to try to get the PM removed.”  

However, Annuar pointed out that the authorities would have to act if police reports were lodged against Dr Mahathir, lest the government be perceived as being selective.
Annuar charged that Dr Mahathir was laying himself open by his writing about “the improper dismissal of the previous Malaysian AG (Gani Patail) just before he was expected to bring a charge against the PM” and that “the current AG was appointed by the PM through false representation made to the King.”  

He said Mahathir’s claim that Apandi was appointed through false representation made to the King was not only seditious, it was an insult to the King.  

He pointed out that even the usually pro-opposition law experts such as Professor Gurdial Singh Nijar of University of Malaya, and “fiercely independent law experts” such as Emeritus Professor Shad Saleem Faruqi of UiTM were of the opinion that Gani Patail’s dismissal was constitutional, unlike Mahathir’s dismissal of top judges.  

He said Gani had never challenged his dismissal, and the Bar Council had also fully recognised Apandi.  

“It naturally goes that if the previous AG’s dismissal is constitutional then the current AG’s appointment is also constitutional, as simple as that,” Annuar said.  

Annuar turned the spotlight on Dr Mahathir’s past, pointing out that the premier had removed the Lord President of the Federal Court, Tun Salleh Abas, and fellow Federal Court Justices, Wan Suleiman Pawanteh and George Seah, in 1988 in order to save his own position. 

Dr Mahathir had no moral standing to preach or complain about the ruining of the Malaysian judicial and legal system, he said.  

“If there’s any fault with the current system, he should blame himself”, Annuar added, saying Mahathir had created and perpetuated the situation.

The last part about Mahathir having no moral standing to comment on this is especially hurtful to Tun Mahathir.

When Pakatan Rakyat (PR) wrested control of five states in the 2008 General Election, it provided a perfect platform for the Opposition coalition to showcase its ability to govern.

Many Malaysians were eager to see how PR would perform, especially in Penang and Selangor, two of the most economically advanced states in the country.

Within a few years, reports of outstanding financial management in Penang by the DAP-led state government started to emerge.

Media organisations, both local and foreign, reported that under new Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, the PR government had cleaned up the books, eliminated debts and corruption, boosted revenues and increased state coffers by several folds.

Speaking at the 7th Annual Corporate Governance Summit, Lim revealed the secret behind the success – the state government’s Competency, Accountability and Transparency (CAT) principles. He proudly pointed out that since PR took over the state, it had recorded budget surpluses every year.

The PR state government, according to Lim, had transformed Penang into a shining model of good governance and one far superior to other Barisan Nasional-led state and Federal governments.

So how did Penang manage to achieve stellar results within such a short period of time? What are the important lessons that can be learnt from Penang in managing public finances?

This analysis attempts to answer all these questions by studying Penang’s financial performance from the year 2007 to 2014 based on the state’s financial statements and the Auditor-General’s audit reports.

In particular, we will examine three key elements of the state’s financial statement – Revenue, Expenditure and Consolidated Revenue Account.

We will use the year 2007 as the baseline for comparison since it was the last full year of administration by the previous BN state government.

For the current state government, 2014 data is used as the benchmark as it is the latest fully-audited financial statement available at this point of time.

Revenue

For the year 2007, the state’s revenue stood at RM 295.9 million and by 2014, it rocketed to an astounding RM 799.7 million.

This translates to an increase of RM 503.8 million over seven years and a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 15.26%.

This is indeed an impressive achievement by any standard.

Let’s dive deeper into the state’s financial statements to understand how Lim was able to engineer such an outstanding feat of financial management.

Perhaps disappointed that the UMNO Assembly did not proceed as per their plans and that PM Najib came out the clear winner, it looks like Clare Brown has gotten really desperate and published this "major exclusive  (her words)" Jho Low Is Confirmed As The Sole Shareholder Of Good Star.

To recap, Good Star inc is the company that Sarawak Report has alleged to belong to Jho Low and th company where USD700 million was deposited into it by 1MDB as part of their Joint-venture agreement with Saudi Arabia's PetroSaudi.

I admire her unwillingness to give up and her fighting spirit but don't you think the timing is suspicious? This story really sounds like an after-thought and really cannot accomplish much.

She should have published this before the UMNO assembly started rather than on a Sunday after the event. What else would make the UMNO delegates more angry than Najib allowing a fat Chinese boy colluding with a bunch of dodgy Pak Arabs to steal billions of Malaysia's money?

Anyway, back to her story. She says that she now have proof that Good Star is owned by Jho Low but she does not explain the following:

• Why would Prince Turki, the governor of Saudi Arabia's largest province and capital city Riyadh and 7th son of Saudi Arabia's absolute monarch King Abdullah wants to pakat with a fat Malaysian Chinese boy to steal Malaysia's money?
• How come PetroSaudi never complain that they were not paid as per the Joint-venture agreement and that money belonging to them was diverted to Jho Low but continued on with the joint-venture for 3 years?
• How come PetroSaudi itself has confirmed multiple times that Good Star Inc has always belonged to them?
• Why is it that 1MDB received back all the USD1.83 billion that it put into the JV and even made USD488m of profits with the remainder balance all guaranteed by the Abu Dhabi Govt?
• Why over the course of 5 years two of the largest international auditor firms (KMPG and Deloitte) and our own Auditor General could not detect any trace of missing billions?

So what proof did Sarawak Report say they have that Good Star belongs to Jho Low? 

In their words, their proof is "documentation submitted to various international regulators.."!!

That's her proof! No documentation, no certificates, no testimony - nothing. We are expected to trust her words.

Clare doesn't mention who are these international regulators and neither does she say why these international agencies would even bother giving her all these details of their confidential investigations.

In fact, this picture of her "proof "(or perhaps secara hiasan) she posted in her Sarawak Report article is really just a company incorporation document with the name of the company blacked out!

Not only that but in her article, she accused one of the world's leading and oldest law-firm, the New York-based White & Case (founded 1901) of deliberately making a mistake to say that Good Star is owned by PetroSaudi and perhaps also collaborating with Jho Low to cheat 1MDB.

For good measure, she also accused RBS Coutts, one of the oldest banks in the world (founded in the year 1692) and at that time owned by  The Royal Bank of Scotland of conspiring with Jho Low to steal 1MDB's money.

This is what Clare Brown wrote:

"Yet again, private banks appear to have worked hand in glove with off-shore havens and the UK based incoporation agency (Offshore Incorporations Limited) to assist the transfers of enormous sums of money of dubious origin."

And finally, this is where it gets really scary....

Clare Brown apparently got very angry at prominent British businessman Rick Haythornthwaite. which she claimed is PetroSaudi's president.

She apparently wrote an email to Mr Haythornthwaite and got a rude reply,

Therefore, even if I were to be in possession of information relevant to your query, I would be unwilling to assist you in yourquestionable activities.

Essentially in that email, Mr Haythornthwaite is calling Clare Rewcastle Brown:

• not a journalist who wants to understand the true facts
• has many fundamental factual errors in her accusation
• has questionable credibility and engages in questionable activities

Clare Brown being called no credibility, flawed facts and have no desire for the truth by MaserCard Chairman

This means Clare Brown was called a lying person with a hidden agenda with no objective to find out about the true facts.

This made Clare Brown really really angry and she wrote that she is revealing Mr Haythornthwaite' email address and is asking her Sarawak Report readers to spam him:

"And we offer readers of Sarawak Report Mr Haythornthwaite’s email address, so that they can let him know that this blog is not alone in its concerns over what happened at this company under his watch and that it is to add insult to injury to trivialise and ignore the theft of billions from Malaysia’s development fund."

This is one very vindictive and vicious lady indeed!!!

Now, "Rick" or full name, Richard Haythornthwaite is no ordinary businessman. You can read his biography in Bloomberg here.

On top of being a director in many very large companies, Mr. Haythornthwaite is the current Chairman  (since 2006) of MasterCard International (yes, Visa card's competitor) and the current Chairman of UK's largest gas supply and electricity company Centrica PLC with about £30. billion (or RM200 billion) per year revenue.

Being called a "lying woman with a hidden agenda with no objective to find out about the true facts."by a person as credible as Rick Haythornthwaite must have really hurt,

Add this hurt to the recently-concluded UMNO General Assembly where Najib came out the true winner and stronger must have forced Clare Brown to grasp at straws and post this completely ridiculous allegation today on Sarawak Report.

Give it up, Clare Brown and Sarawak Report! 1

1MDB is already fully investigated and everyone connected have already given their testimony. It is already well on its rationalization plan with more than RM30 billion of its debt resolved.

Even Bloomberg said last week that "1MDB mess is fixed"

Stop your nonsense Miss Brown the game is over. It is check-mate already.

You are starting to sound even more ridiculous - bordering on the insanely vindictive.

From strong allies to bitter enemies: the Four Strikes that caused PAS and DAP to split apart

As recently as 1 1/2 years ago, PAS was a big supporter of the now-dead or comatose Pakatan Rakyat.

PAS had always lived up to their end of the bargain to "Pakat" with PKR and DAP and frequently mobilized their formidable million-strong machinery to support Pakatan events and rallies.

PAS may not be a genius when it comes to economic development policies but as a religious party, they are a party that do try to hold on to their principles.

So, how did this partnership suddenly fall apart so fast and why is PAS so bitter with DAP now?

There were three major events:

1) There was no Pakatan consensus decision on the Kajang Move. PAS did not agree and was not consulted.

As declared many times by PKR and DAP leaders, Pakatan operates on the basis of a consensus decision - meaning all 3 parties must agree before any major decision can be implemented.

It does not operate on the basis of majority decision or 2 out of 3. All three must agree.

PAS had objected strongly to this as the Kajang move but it was still implemented was without PAS's agreement - something that would have broken the consensus agreement of Pakatan.

In fact, it seems to have been an unilateral move by PKR itself - apparently as part of a strategy by the then PKR Strategic Director Rafizi Ramli.

Even DAP's Secretary General Lim Guan Eng was caught unaware. Unless Lim Guan Eng was lying at that time when the Kajang ADUN resigned to allow Anwar to contest then there is no way that the Kajang move was a consensus decision.

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng has denied knowing what is going on in Selangor following the resignation of Kajang assemblyman Lee Chin Cheh yesterday. 

He said he was not informed of anything by PKR de facto leader and opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is now going to contest the Kajang by-election.

          Lim said the resignation was also news to him. 

"I was not told about the developments in Selangor about the resignation or the Menteri Besar’s post. 

"It is best for Anwar to answer. It is not right for me to talk or give views. My feelings on this matter are not important," - Jan 28 2014.

Ever the opportunist, DAP later went along with PKR's and Rafizi's plan - but PAS had steadfastly refused to play along too since the principle of a consensus decision was broken.

This is STRIKE ONE.

2) The slander and defamation of Former Selangor MB Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim.


Having maintained a good working relationship with Tan Sri Khalid, PAS believes that TS Khalid was unfairly made a victim. And it was not adil or just for such a person to be defamed and slandered - which is clearly against their Islamic teachings.

During the campaign to force Khalid's resignation, PKR and DAP even came out with a 91 page dossier of allegations against Khalid accusing him of all sorts of corruption and general wrong-doings.

These allegations were widely repeated in the ceramahs and talks of DAP and PKR leaders state-wide.

Khalid was of course incensed at this and sued PKR for defamation in August 2014.

At that time, Khalid even instructed his aides to submitted PKR’s report on their boss’ alleged links to dubious deals to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), requesting the anti-graft body investigate the party’s claims - hence becoming the first ever (and still only) person in Malaysia to report himself for a corruption!

PAS' initial judgement that Khalid was fitnah-ed was proven correct as one year later, way after Khalid had been removed as MB, Khalid essentially won his defamation case against PKR when PKR's ex-Secretary-General read out an open apology in court.

The apology was unconditional and PKR admitted each and every allegation against Khalid was false and defamatory.

"dokumen tersebut telah menyatakan dan memberi gambaran bahawa Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim (TSKI) adalah seorang yg korup, zalim, tidak boleh dipercayai, tidak bersikap telus, tidak jujur, tidak beretika, tidak beramanah, tidak berintegriti, telah terlibat dengan perlakuan rasuah dan salahlaku dan tidak layak menjadi MB Selangor. 

Bagi pihak PKR dan saya secara peribadi, kami melahirkan rasa amat kesal dan dengan ikhlas dan suci hati serta TANPA SYARAT memohon maaf kpd TSKI. 

Bagi pihak PKR dan secara peribadi, kami juga memberi akujanji kpd TSKI dan mahkamah yg mulia ini bhw kenyataan2 tersebut tidak seharusnya dikatakan dan kami akan memberhentikan dpd menyadatakan dan tidak akan mengulangi kandungan dan tuduhan2 dlm dokumen tersebut dan apa2 kenyataan yg berkaitan dgn dokumen tersebut."

In an amazing display of shamelessness and general thick-facedness, both Rafizi Ramli and PKR tweeted that Khalid Ibrahim and PKR had apologized to each other and that Khalid has withdrawn the defamation suit!!

Khalid did not withdraw the suit but accepted PKR's unconditional apology in court as settlement.

And as for Khalid Ibrahim's so-called apology to PKR, here it is. Read it and laugh.

How PKR and Rafizi Ramli can mistake a "Maaf Zahir Batin" in the spirit of Hari Raya then for an apology when compared to their own unconditional apology is beyond me. A total disgraceful spin.

And they dare call it "both sides apologize to each other".

Anyway, PAS was vindicated to have stood for justice and stood for Khalid's right not to be fitnah.

This is STRIKE TWO.


3) PAS believes PKR and DAP essentially stole two of PAS' Assembly-Persons.

Two of PAS' assembly-person broke ranks and sided with PKR and DAP in signing a statutory declaration supporting Wan Azizah as the Menteri Besar.

PAS president Hadi Awang was furious that his partners can do such stuff to him and his party. You can listen to his fury here:

I guess no party in the world would tolerate their so-called party "stealing" their elected representatives.

If you respect your partners, you would not have accepted the two statutory declarations from your partners and going against their party stand.

It's definitely a big stab-in-the-back.

This is STRIKE THREE.

4) PAS believes that PKR and DAP broke their promise and did nor respect a supposed consensus decision to allow PAS to pursue their Islamic Government and Hudud objectives

It needs to be noted PAS very existence is to uphold Islam in Malaysia and it would be unthinkable if PAS would give up their fight for Syariah and Hudud laws.

Which is why the Hudud issue had always been a thorn in the Pakatan relationship which led to frequent arguments between them in the early days of Pakatan Rakyat post 2008.

This led to a secret meeting in Sept 2011 between them where it was initially reported (and then the article was quickly deleted by Malaysian Chronicles but not before other blogs coped it):

After a marathon meeting where tables were banged and DAP chairman Karpal Singh was even out-shouted by his own party mates eager to come to grips with a problem that has shaken the Pakatan Rakyat coalition, agreement was finally reached and everyone got most of what they had hoped for.

Firstly, PAS Spiritual Adviser Nik Aziz Nik Mat was given the nod to pursue his agenda for hudud law in Kelantan, where in 1993, long before the Pakatan was formed he had passed hudud into law at the state assembly.

This is a major concession from DAP and is in recognition of Nik Aziz’s contribution to the country and the opposition coalition. The same recognition was extended to Terengganu, where PAS president Hadi Awang had gazetted hudud into law in 2003 but was also unable to implement it.

In return, DAP won the acknowledgement it sought from PAS that the Pakatan’s Common Policy Framework (or joint manifesto) and their Buku Jingga (or joint socio-economic blueprint) would remain as they were, without provision for the inclusion of hudud.

The nod to allow Kelantan to pursue Hudud was never made public in subsequent Pakatan speeches as they preferred to just continuously parrot the line that "Hudud is not in Pakatan Common Policy Framework".

Eventually after GE13, PAS tried to pursue Hudud in Kelantan again and DAP resisted strongly and started to abuse PAS.

Then the fireworks started.

In April 2014 senior PAS wanita leader  said "DAP pernah bersetuju PAS perjuang konsep Negara Islam."

Responding to this issue, a day later also in April 2014 PKR Vice-President Tian Chua told the media that DAP and PKR had indeed agreed to Hudud in Kelantan - which led to DAP's Lim Guan Eng calling "Tian Chua a irresponsible and unethical liar".

A few days later, PAS President Hadi Awang ALSO said DAP had agreed to Hudud by PAS. But LGE denied and asked Hadi Awang to show proof.

Eventually, a copy of a jointly-signed letter by Hadi Awang and Lim Guan Eng dated just before GE13 started surfacing.

In that signed letter, it was clearly stated that "PAS berhak memperjuangkan aqidah dan konsep Negara Islam secara sendiri. "

Now, unless Lim Guan Eng was ignorant that Negara Islam also included Syariah Laws and Hudud laws, then it is clear that DAP had allowed PAS to pursue Hudud too since he signed on it!

Therefore, in their opinion PAS is furious that DAP had broken their word and signed agreement. And not only that, PAS is angry that DAP leaders had attacked PAS leaders and Hadi Awang so severely and rudely - calling Hadi Awang all sorts of name.

This breaking of a written agreement and past consensus and blatant public denials by DAP who even had the cheek to turn around to attack PAS as lying is probably the last straw for PAS.

And.. This is STRIKE FOUR.

Given all the above, the relationship between PAS and DAP seems irreparable.

Who is lying, who is telling the truth, which parry held on to its principles and which party cannot be trusted is pretty clear.
